They 'just' grow on plants that are laid over a kind of net by the people on the farm.

After the plant blooms, the yellow flower develops into a tall, gourd-like plant that resembles a giant cucumber or zucchini. These are then harvested and dried.

They are then soaked in water, which loosens the skin and can be easily removed. The 'naked' loofah is then further dried in the sun. A completely natural process.

A loofah lasts 2-4 months depending on use. After that, it can simply be disposed of with the biodegradable waste and is back in nature within 30 days.
